James T. Fields — 27 May 1862

To JAMES T. FIELD
May 27, [1862], Wheeling

Many thanks. If you read David,[1] I have one request like Queen Esther.[2] Don’t leave anything out of it in publishing. A deformity is better than a scar you know. I do hope to see you early in June, but I cannot tell exactly when, owing to the uncertainty of my escort’s movements.[3] How good it must be to be a man when you want to travel!

With kindest regards to Mrs Fields

Yours
R.B.H.
